We have some serious problems with Halaal certification and how it has been abused by some manufacturers. Please see VIDEO BY CLICKING BELOW link.

The Jamiyathul Ulema of Sri Lanka or ACJU issues halaal certification to manufacturers of Halaal consumables.
The Halaal conference 2010 in Sri Lanka is organized by UTO/Educonsult together with Jamiyyathul Ulama as the key event partner.

The letter of invitation for sponsorship has been signed by Haji A R M Faizer, the administrator of the ACJU’s Halaal Certification Authority. KREST has come forward as the Platinum sponsor. Krest products are not an approved producer as per the ACJU website.

KREST range of meat products are produced by Keels food products Ltd. They are also one of the biggest producers of pork products in Sri Lanka.

Many Muslims are misled by the Arabic text on the products and assume that the Arabic lettering some how makes it Halaal.
It is indeed tragic that many Muslims will be misled by KREST being the platinum sponsor of the Halaal conference. Should not the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama be more vigilant and ensure that the Muslims of Sri Lanka are not misled.

KEELLS FOOD PRODUCTS PLC contains PORK in their production line up in the market, Even though they dint receive the Halal certification from ALL CEYLON JAMYATHUL ULAMA, they have managed to find an approach to trick the Muslim consumers' market by targeting layman Muslims.

In KEELLS FOODS PRODUCTION's packaging strategy, they have printed ingredients in "ARABIC LETTERS" so that the ignorant or illiterate Muslims will think it is Halaal Certified!

Dear brothers and sisters beware of these cheating market strategies from KEELLS FOOD PRODUCTION PLC & let know your Muslim friends and relatives about these tricks & traps in Sri Lankan market!

Now that means they put pork in other products not labelled as containing it? If it is the case it's a serious misconduct, because there are people who are allergic to pork, and one of them may die eating it unaware of it.

Of course I don't give a that importance to whether it halal or haram.

Keells have obtained halal status from Jamiyyathul Ulama...There is no problem with that.Eating or not eating keells products are upto the consumer.But 87% of the companies which have obtained halal certificate from jameeyathul ulama is non muslim.But they comply to do legal kurban of the animal and hence get the halal certification after observations and visits.

This rumour is supposedely spread by a muslim businessman(Norfolf Products owner) because he lost business to KFC and Pizza Hut.KFC and Pizza hut were buying norfolk items before keells got halal certified.Since now Keells have got the hala certificate KFC and Pizza Hut(Keells companies) by their own keels halal meat.

Hence the owner of Norfolk Crescent is spreading this rumour in revenge to his loss in business...

So please clarify the truth before spreading messages

EDIT : I think the problem is that ACJU din update da website so da business man who is angry with keels used this chance !!!
BTW we have to look for the halaal mark not just arabic leters !!1
